Dodgers' Mookie Betts moves to shortstop from second base, replacing struggling Gavin Lux.
Dodgers outfielder Mookie Betts has moved to shortstop from second base, following regular shortstop Gavin Lux's struggles with fielding. Manager Dave Roberts called the move, made 12 days before the Dodgers' opener, "permanent, for now". This decision was made to give the team the best chance to prevent runs and win baseball games, with Betts, a six-time Gold Glove and seven-time All-Star, having previously played shortstop on a regular basis since 2012 in Class-A.
