Belfast City Hall unveiled statues of Mary Ann McCracken and Winifred Carney, first non-royal women, on International Women's Day.

Statues of social activists and campaigners Mary Ann McCracken and Winifred Carney were unveiled at Belfast City Hall on International Women's Day. The two women, born in 1770 and 1887 respectively, were honored for their roles in Irish history, with McCracken supporting the United Irishmen movement and working to help the poor, and Carney participating in the Easter Rising and advocating for women's voting rights. Their statues are the first non-royal women to receive such an honor in the grounds of Belfast City Hall.
