52-year-old Wichita father, Thomas Ross Gatewood, pleaded no contest to first-degree murder and other charges for the death of his eight-year-old daughter, Jeanetta. Prosecutors stated that Gatewood repeatedly beat and stomped on the girl, causing her heart to rupture. The daughter's nine-year-old sister was also physically abused, and the children were kept isolated from the community, with no school or doctor visits.
