69-year-old Skelly, who dismembered Oberly's body, avoids jail; receives 2-year conditional sentence with house arrest, curfew, and community service.

69-year-old retired butcher Joseph Donald Skelly from Alberta won't serve jail time for dismembering Treasa Lynn Oberly's body. Skelly admitted to destroying the body to prevent it from being identified. He will serve a two-year conditional sentence: 12 months of house arrest followed by a period of curfew, for offering an indignity to Oberly's body. The judge ruled that Skelly can serve his sentence in the community without endangering the public.
