21% of women in 14 European countries are aware of alcohol's link to breast cancer risk, according to WHO Europe.

The World Health Organization (WHO) Europe warns that only 21% of women across 14 European countries are aware of the link between alcohol consumption and breast cancer risk. Awareness is even lower among men, with only 10% knowing this link. In 2022, 600,000 breast cancer cases were reported in Europe, and 2020 data from the International Agency for Research on Cancer shows that 39,248 of the new breast cancer cases were alcohol-attributable, accounting for around 7% of cases.
