Trilingual short film "The Lascar" won Jury Short Film Award at the Alameda International Film Festival in Oakland, CA, blending Urdu, Te Reo Māori, and English languages. Set during the era of East India Company ships, it explores Indian sailors' relationship with the British and Māori people. Directed by UNESCO Fellow Adi Parige, it's the first NZ film to feature all three languages, with a budget of $50k and plans for a feature-length film.
