This move is part of his ongoing efforts to modernize Nigeria's electric power transmission grid under the Presidential Power Initiative (PPI). The new board structure assigns the Chairmanship of the board to the Office of the Minister of Power and removes the Steering Committee from the governance framework, granting full oversight powers to the Minister of Power. Tinubu believes the leaner board will provide greater agility and efficiency in achieving the full modernization of the nation's power grid for the benefit of all Nigerians.
