Malaysia's Ministry of Housing and Local Government is drafting the country's first Urban Redevelopment Act (URA) to address urban planning and development issues. The URA aims to generate abundant investment opportunities and change urban landscapes. The ministry also plans to introduce a new public housing model called Program Residensi Rakyat (PRR), providing well-integrated, sustainable, and liveable housing units at a subsidized price. The PRR will prioritize connectivity through transit-oriented development and integrate green buildings, aiming for 30% less energy-intensity compared to standard buildings.
