India's Cabinet approves 5th-generation fighter jet project, AMCA, developed by DRDO.
India's Cabinet Committee on Security approved the Advanced Medium Combat Aircraft (AMCA), a 5th-generation fighter jet development project undertaken by the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO). The AMCA is a 25-tonne twin-engine stealth aircraft with an internal weapons bay and a Diverterless Supersonic Intake developed in India for the first time. The project, with a budget of around Rs 15,000 crore, aims to build five prototypes in around five years, creating lakhs of jobs and supporting the development of indigenous technologies and the military industry.
