France's National Assembly unanimously passed a bill recognizing and compensating individuals convicted of homosexuality between 1942 and 1982, when a discriminatory anti-gay law was in effect. The bill aims to reimburse those who were fined and compensate those who were imprisoned, with around 200 to 400 people estimated to be eligible for compensation. The legislation must now be examined by the French Senate.
