The Denver Broncos are releasing star safety Justin Simmons in a cost-saving move, freeing up $14.5m against their salary cap. This follows the team's record $85m dead cap charges after releasing quarterback Russell Wilson. Simmons had one year remaining on his contract and made two Pro Bowls, with 30 career interceptions and three nominations for the Walter Payton NFL Man of the Year Award.
