81-year-old Mack Workman, a key figure in South Carolina's civil rights movement, has died. As a member of the Friendship Nine, he and others protested racial segregation at an all-white lunch counter in Rock Hill, South Carolina, in 1961. Their "Jail, No Bail" movement gained national attention and reinvigorated civil rights protests. In 2015, their convictions were vacated in a historic court hearing.
