UK's Office for Budget Responsibility forecasts council tax to increase by £13bn annually by 2029.

The UK's Budget watchdog, the Office for Budget Responsibility (OBR), has warned that council tax could increase by £13bn a year by 2029. The OBR forecasts council tax receipts in England rising from £38.7bn in 2023-24 to £50.4bn in 2028/29. This means the overall rise in council tax could potentially wipe out any benefit felt by households from the cut to national insurance announced in the Budget.
