South Africa urges the ICJ to impose additional emergency measures on Israel.

South Africa has urged the UN's top court, the International Court of Justice (ICJ), to impose additional emergency measures on Israel, claiming Israel is breaching the measures already in place and causing "widespread starvation" in Gaza. This is the second time South Africa has asked the court for additional measures; its first request in February was denied. The South African government believes that the ICJ must act now to prevent imminent tragedy. In January, the ICJ ordered Israel to refrain from acts that could fall under the Genocide Convention and ensure its troops commit no genocidal acts against Palestinians. Israel and its Western allies called the allegation baseless.
