Researchers discover new deep-sea worm species, Pectinereis strickrotti, near a methane seep off Costa Rica's Pacific coast.

A new species of deep-sea worm, named Pectinereis strickrotti, has been discovered living near a methane seep off the Pacific coast of Costa Rica. The worm has an elongated body and feathery gill-tipped appendages called parapodia on either side. Researchers from UC San Diego's Scripps Institution of Oceanography made the discovery, revealing the continued undiscovered biodiversity in the deep sea.
