Michigan DNR warns of early fire season due to lack of precipitation and hot, dry conditions.

Michigan's Department of Natural Resources (DNR) warns of an early fire season due to lack of precipitation during winter and last year's hot, dry conditions. Nearly 400 wildfires were responded to in 2023, and several have already occurred this year. The DNR advises residents to obtain free burn permits online when ground isn't covered in snow, keep a water source and metal shovel handy, and avoid burning trash, plastic, and electronics.
