Former Bay City Public Safety Director, Michael Cecchini, pleaded no contest to assault and battery for a September 2022 incident involving Bird scooter riders.

Former Bay City Public Safety Director, Michael Cecchini, pleaded no contest to assault and battery for a September 2022 incident involving confronting three teenagers riding Bird scooters. Cecchini, off duty, threatened the riders with physical violence and arrest before striking an 18-year-old with a flashlight. As part of a delayed sentence, he must surrender his MCOLES certification, attend an anger management class, complete 40 hours of community service, have no contact with the victim, and not engage in any new criminal activity.
