Meta-owned platforms Facebook, Instagram, and Threads experienced a global outage, locking users out of their accounts for almost two hours on Tuesday. The outage began at 8:50 PM IST and services were gradually restored around 10:30 PM. Down Detector reported over 40,000 complaints within half an hour. Though there were no signs of government-imposed disruptions, the outage came just a day before the deadline for Meta and other tech giants to comply with the European Union's Digital Markets Act.
