Bronze plaque stolen from Rhode Island artist Edward Bannister's grave; $5,000 reward offered.
A significant piece of bronze was stolen from the grave of renowned Rhode Island artist Edward Bannister at North Burial Ground in Providence. Edward Bannister, one of Rhode Island's most notable artists and among celebrated Black artists in America, had his grave's bronze element stolen. A local museum, Stages of Freedom, is offering $5,000 for the safe return of the stolen brass plaque.
