27-year-old prisoner at Hakea Prison, south of Perth, died after a fire in his cell. The inmate was found unconscious and later pronounced dead at Fiona Stanley Hospital. Another prisoner was treated for smoke inhalation but cleared to remain in prison. WA Police will investigate the fire and death, preparing a report for the coroner. The state's justice department will also conduct an internal inquiry.
