A pensioner in Grantham, Thatcher's hometown, defaced the Margaret Thatcher statue with the word "b*****d" in red paint, caught on CCTV. The £300,000 statue was unveiled in May 2022 and has faced previous vandalism. The incident occurred during the week of the 40th anniversary of the miners' strike. Lincolnshire Police released a CCTV still image and are urging the public for help in the investigation.
