1 person dead after fire and possible explosion in a home in northwest Spokane. Spokane Fire Department (SFD) responded to reports of a fire on West Elmhurst Avenue around 6:19 p.m. Neighbors reported hearing an explosion and the roof of the home collapsed. Fire crews needed to make a line to protect surrounding houses, and heavy smoke led to low visibility. The cause of the fire and explosion is under investigation.
