Human Rights Watch accuses Malaysia's Immigration detention centers of torture and abuse.

Human Rights Watch (HRW) accuses Malaysia's Immigration Department of detaining migrants and refugees in abusive conditions, where they face forced exercise, lack of medical care, and torture. The report highlights the presence of 1,400 children in detention, many unaccompanied or separated from their families, and documents claims of assault with bricks and batons. HRW recommends the Malaysian government reduce its reliance on immigration detention and develop community-based alternatives to detention.
