Indiana State Police are investigating the death of a Huntington County Jail inmate, 37-year-old Schakia L. Yates from Indianapolis, who was found unresponsive in a medical cell on March 3, 2024. Yates had been housed alone due to a history of medical issues and was pronounced dead at the jail after EMS personnel were unable to revive her. The cause and manner of her death are pending autopsy results.
