Supreme Court orders Metro Manila LGUs to stop issuing traffic violation receipts, use MMDA's single ticketing system.

The Supreme Court (SC) has ordered Metro Manila local government units (LGUs) to cease issuing their own traffic violation receipts and confiscating driver's licenses, and instead comply with the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority's (MMDA) single ticketing system (STS). In a 41-page decision, the SC declared null and void sections of the ordinances of various LGUs that allowed the issuance of ordinance violation receipts (OVRs). The Court emphasized that the MMDA's STS standardizes fines and penalties for common traffic violations in the country's capital region.
