A new study by health policy researchers reveals that reinsurance programs, designed to lower premiums and boost enrollment in the Affordable Care Act's health insurance marketplaces, may have unintended negative effects on affordability for middle-class enrollees receiving premium subsidies. Published in Health Affairs, the study is the first to examine post-American Rescue Plan Act reinsurance waivers' impact on marketplace coverage affordability.
