New Mexico Governor signs legislation banning guns near polling places and extending firearm purchase waiting period.

The measures were passed during a recent 30-day legislative session and also increase penalties for second-degree murder-related offenses and give judges additional leeway to deny bail in cases where defendants face new charges while awaiting trial on a felony.
