Mumbai Police has booked special public prosecutor Shekhar Jagtap for allegedly forging documents and appearing as a public prosecutor before Bombay High Court, Mumbai Sessions Court, and Thane District Sessions Court in cases involving builder Sanjay Punamiya. Punamiya filed a case against Jagtap after obtaining information under RTI, revealing that Jagtap represented the state government in multiple cases involving Punamiya and his rival builder Shamsunder Agarwal. The police registered a case under sections 420 (cheating) and 465 (forgery) and other relevant provisions of the IPC against Jagtap, builder Shyamsunder Agrawal, Sharad Agrawal, Kishore Bhalerao (deputy secretary of the state home department), and others.
