Maldives signs military assistance deal with China amidst strained relations with India. The deal aims to foster stronger bilateral ties and was finalised after President Mohamed Muizzu's call for the withdrawal of Indian military personnel. The agreement, signed by Maldives's Defence Minister Mohamed Ghassan Maumoon and China's Major General Zhang Baoqun, commits China to providing military assistance to the Maldives at no cost. Details of the military assistance are yet to be disclosed.
