680,000 fewer cars are on the roads of Ireland's five largest cities each day due to people walking or cycling, according to the National Transport Authority's (NTA) Walking and Cycling Index. The survey found that more than half of adults walk five or more days a week, while 15% cycle at least once a week. Widespread support for improving walking and cycling infrastructure was found, with almost three quarters of people in Dublin wanting increased spending on such measures.
