Coroner halts inquest into 1997 murder of GAA official Sean Brown in NI due to national security concerns; requests public inquiry.

A coroner has ruled that an inquest into the murder of GAA official Sean Brown in Northern Ireland cannot proceed due to sensitive state material being withheld on national security grounds. Coroner Mr Justice Patrick Kinney will now write to the Northern Ireland secretary requesting a public inquiry into Brown's murder by loyalists in 1997. The past year has been challenging for Brown's family, but his daughter Siobhan says the only option now is to look for a public inquiry.
