British Columbia's government is developing 10 new Foundry centres to expand mental health and substance use services for youth aged 12 to 24. The expansion will cost nearly CAD 75 million and new centres will be built in Burnaby, Chilliwack, Nanaimo, Port Alberni, Quesnel, Sooke-Westshore, South Surrey, Vancouver, Vanderhoof, and the West Kootenays. The announcement follows a survey showing that 24% of youth in the province reported self-harm, up from 16% in 2018 and 15% in 2013.
