BHP Group signs non-binding potash sales agreements for its Jansen mine in Canada, targeting firm offtakes within 12-18 months, with production starting in late 2026.

BHP Group Limited has signed non-binding sales agreements for all potash production from its Jansen mine in Saskatchewan, Canada, aiming to convert these into firm offtakes within 12-18 months. BHP plans to sell potash to distributors rather than directly to companies reselling the fertilizer to farmers. The company expects the mine to begin production in late 2026, with an annual output of 4.35 million metric tons, potentially increasing to 8.5 million tons. BHP is not interested in acquiring the idled Cobre Panama copper mine from First Quantum Minerals.
