New Zealand's Bluecliffs state of emergency is extended until March 10 due to rapid coastal erosion threatening properties. The Southland District Council is working on opening the Waiau river bar to alter water flow and plans to remove hazardous materials from an old dump site, which is being eroded by the river and tides.
