India's first green hydrogen project for the stainless steel sector, a collaboration between Jindal Stainless and Hygenco, has been inaugurated by Union Minister Jyotiraditya M Scindia. The facility aims to reduce carbon emissions by around 2,700 metric tonnes annually and 54,000 tonnes of CO2 over 20 years. The green hydrogen produced will be used in stainless steel manufacturing processes at Jindal Stainless' Hisar unit. The project aligns with India's commitment to achieve net zero carbon emissions by 2070, creating valuable employment opportunities and demonstrating the potential of responsible industrial practices.
