22-year-old Md Mahi Sharia, a loss prevention officer, was charged with impersonating a police officer, extortion, and sexual assault after allegedly sexually assaulting a victim while posing as a cop in the Keele Street and St. Regis Crescent area of Toronto on February 23. The suspect reportedly stopped the victim in a commercial building, identified himself as a police officer, took photos of their government ID, demanded money, and sexually assaulted them. Police are concerned there may be other victims and are appealing for information.
