Chile's Finance Minister, Mario Marcel, revealed plans for three or four new lithium projects to be operational by 2026, as part of President Gabriel Boric's national lithium strategy. The projects aim to increase state control over the strategic metal used in electric-vehicle batteries, and come after meetings with US Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen, who has been promoting expanded U.S.-Chilean ties for energy security and climate goals.
