Two Quebec residents, aged 26 and 24, were arrested at Vancouver International Airport in relation to a "grandparent scam" targeting seniors in Saanich, British Columbia, and potentially other Vancouver Island communities. The suspects allegedly defrauded at least one senior out of more than $27,000, with the scam involving fraudsters pretending to be a family member or law enforcement, claiming a loved one is in trouble and needs money immediately. The Saanich police Major Crime detectives worked diligently to support the victims and locate the suspects, who now face two counts of fraud.
