34-year-old Nigerian man, sentenced to 24 years in prison by Madam Justice Consuelo Scerri Herrera, for marital rape, domestic violence, and forcing his pregnant wife into prostitution. The 4-day trial resulted in a guilty verdict after almost 6 hours of deliberation. The defendant was also acquitted of profiting from his wife's prostitution and faces an additional €10,000 fine for related charges. The victim initially filed a domestic violence report in 2020.
