217-year-old Faroese sweater discovered at UK's National Archives, seized in 1807 during the Second Battle of Copenhagen.
217-year-old Faroese sweater, handmade and unopened, was found among a collection of 19th-century letters at the UK's National Archives. The package was seized by the British Navy during the Second Battle of Copenhagen in 1807 and remained unopened until recently. The sweater, which was sent by a carpenter's wife to a woman in Denmark, was in "pristine" condition and is a rare example of Faroese national dress.
