Wisconsin Governor Tony Evers has vetoed three Republican-backed tax bills totaling nearly $800 million, including measures to expand the state's second income tax bracket, increase the income tax credit for married couples, and exempt up to $75,000 in retirement income from state taxes. The Republican-sponsored bills aimed to attract and retain residents in Wisconsin, but Democratic lawmakers argued that they were fiscally irresponsible. Evers has twice rejected similar GOP-authored tax cuts, arguing that they would send Wisconsin on a path toward insolvency.
