Florida Man Sentenced to 4 Years in Federal Prison.

In July 2021, Wendell Goney, a Florida man with a history of felony convictions, was arrested for shooting down a drone belonging to the Lake County Sheriff's Office. Despite being charged with destruction of law enforcement property, he was ultimately sentenced in 2023 to four years in federal prison for possessing a firearm as a felon. Goney, who admitted to shooting the drone after discovering it had cameras, was ordered to pay over $29,000 in restitution to replace the drone.
