Pentagon plans to lift V-22 Osprey flight ban after Defense Secretary endorsement, following a fatal crash in Japan.

The US Pentagon plans to lift the ban on V-22 Osprey flights next week, after Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin endorsed military services' plans for a safe and measured return to operations. The Osprey has been grounded since a fatal crash in Japan in November that killed eight service members. The U.S. military will share its plans with Japan, the only international partner involved in the Osprey program, and the fleet will not fly again until Japan has had an opportunity to be briefed on the services' plan.
