Paris police have arrested David Cady, a man linked to a 1996 cold case murder of Mary Searight, in Hopkins County, Texas. Cady was arrested in October on an unrelated aggravated assault charge. In September 2023, a DNA sample of Cady's was analyzed at the Texas DPS Crime Lab and indicated that Searight's DNA was likely present on Cady's injured hand during the aggravated assault.
