Nissan ends Leaf production in Sunderland, UK; invests £2bn for future EV production.
Nissan has stopped production of the current Leaf electric car at its Sunderland, UK plant, marking the end of its lifecycle. The Japanese manufacturer will continue producing the model in the US and Japan. Nissan is transforming its Sunderland plant into a flagship electric vehicle hub, investing £2bn to build future EVs in the UK. The company plans to produce 100% electric passenger cars in Europe by 2030.
