820,000 newer GM pickup trucks in North America recalled due to tailgate unlatching.

General Motors (GM) is recalling 820,000 newer pickup trucks in North America due to tailgates unlatching and opening unexpectedly. The issue affects 2020-2024 model year trucks with power unlatching tailgates, where water can leak into the exterior tailgate switch and cause a short circuit while parked. GM is aware of one reported minor injury and three minor property damage complaints related to the recall. The recall covers 570,000 trucks in the US and 250,000 in Canada.
