Ireland secured its first ever Test victory, ending a six-year winless streak and a series of seven consecutive defeats in the longest format of cricket by beating Afghanistan by six wickets on Day 3 of the only Test match at the Tolerance Oval Cricket Stadium in Abu Dhabi. Led by captain Andy Balbirnie's unbeaten 58, Ireland (111/4 in 31.3 overs) chased down a modest target of 111 runs for victory. Ireland's pace bowling trio of Barry McCarthy, Mark Adair, and Craig Young played a crucial role in dismantling the Afghan batting lineup, restricting Afghanistan's lead to just 110 runs.
