IPS officer Anurag Agarwal has been appointed as the head of Parliament security, serving as joint secretary (security) for a three-year term. Agarwal, a 1998-batch officer of the Assam-Meghalaya cadre, is currently the Shillong-based Inspector General of the Central Reserve Police Force's (CRPF) North East Sector. This appointment follows two security breaches in the Parliament complex in December. The post of joint secretary (security) had been vacant since October 2021.
