Prosecutors filed a motion to dismiss the charges, contending that the charges stemmed from an "illegal search" and the players cooperated with officials under a false promise of leniency. The athletes' attorneys previously accused investigators of placing a "warrantless GeoFence" around a university dorm to investigate underage gambling without evidence. Due to new evidence and the improper use of tracking software, prosecutors no longer believe further prosecution is in the interest of justice.
