Human-caused, criminal fire destroyed Port Coquitlam's Hazel Trembath Elementary School in October.
Police in Coquitlam, British Columbia have concluded that a fire which destroyed an elementary school in Port Coquitlam last October was "human caused and criminal in nature." The Hazel Trembath Elementary School was left in ruins after the early morning fire on October 14th. Investigators have ruled out non-human causes such as electrical issues and are now asking those responsible or anyone with information to come forward. The cause of the fire began exterior to the school building, but the exact ignition source and motive remain undetermined. Over 200 students attended the school, which has since been relocated to another site in Coquitlam.
